What is Overland Travel?

We travel by vehicle from one place to another. The destination is only part of the trip, by travelling overland you are opening yourself up to many experiences you would never have if you flew from place to place. It's the getting there that is the real adventure!

Where will I sleep?

On our 3 week trips, we spend half our time camping and half our time in hotels. You will experience sleeping under the stars but will have the comfort of regular beds and the opportunity to shower, do washing and relax in the bar!

Our 4 month expeditions are different, we immerse ourselves in the culture of West Africa . We spend much more time camping although we do use hotels, tree houses, boats and lots more unusual places to stay! We often stay in well-equipped local run campsites, with great showers and washing facilities.

What if I have never camped before?

Camping is great fun, especially when you can look out of your tent in the morning, onto a view very few people have ever seen before. All of our crew are there to lend a hand, get you sorted out and answer any questions you have. Our tents are very high quality and extremely easy to put up and take down. Beware, you may get hooked!

Do I have to cook?

Yep! Everyone works together on these trips, we all shop, cook, set up camp and work as a team. The more you put in, the more you get out. West African life centres on the regular markets, a great place to chat, barter and get some good bargains!

Who makes all the decisions?

Having very small group sizes allows us to work as a team, we have a general route the trip will take and with the help of the crew you can build in activities and destinations as you go along. You can have as much input into your trip as you want.
